BASF Polymer portfolio for hydro-alcoholic gels

BASF offers a variety of polymers suitable for hydro-alcoholic gels. Beside standard thickeners, we offer additional options, depending on what ingredients you chose and what format you are targeting.

Our carbomer Rheocare® C Plus, as well as the acrylic copolymer dispersions in water Rheocare® TTA, Luviset® 360 and Salcare® SC 81 UP excel at building viscosity in high-alcohol solutions.

All four are suitable to achieve clear gels. Cosmedia® Triple C, cationic liquid dispersion polymer without EO, thickens high alcohol formulations already at low use levels and provides a pleasant skin sensory in transluscent gels. Also our cationic liquid dispersion polymers Salcare® SC 95 and Salcare® SC 96 showcase excellent alternative options, providing pleasant skin after feel, in translucent gels. Cosmedia® Ultragel 300 is an allround polymer that thickens and stabilizes formulations at very low concentrations, providing crystal clear gels with high smoothness.

* Please note:
Hand Disinfectants are no cosmetic products but considered as biocidal products and fall under the Biocidal Product Regulation (BPR) in Europe (Regulation (EU) No. 528/2012). Hence manufacturers have to comply with all applicable legal requirements. This refers also to ingredients, actives and formulation design. The following hand sanitizing formulations are prototypes for orientation purpose only, developed as examples to illustrate the use of thickening and emollient technologies in high alcoholic hydrogels. The biocidal activity has not been tested.
