Defoamer for skin leave-on applications. Bio-based, non-persistent alternatives to dimethicones 100 CST and 350 CST
Silicones, or polysiloxanes, are key ingredients in personal care formulations like creams and lotions. In these formulations, they prevent foaming while at the same time providing a pleasant sensory experience – the silicone feel. Unfortunately, polysiloxanes exhibit very low biodegradability.
The challenges we face
The defoaming activity of biodegradable alternatives is often lower and depends to a large extent on other ingredients in a cosmetic formulation. Alternative defoamers often influence the sensory experience offered by a cosmetic formulation in an undesired way. We would love to be able to use a fully biodegradable defoaming system in skincare creams and lotions.
If you can identify biodegradable defoaming systems that show attractive performance in emulsions, let’s talk. We are very interested in any ideas on how to generate a silicone-like sensory experience without using polysiloxanes.
